Note: Sadie’s Rules has since rebranded
Jess Schneiderman, owner of Sadie’s Rules, came to me asking for help in developing a logo for her dog training company based out of Fishersville, VA. She knew, of course, that she wanted to use a dog in the imagery, but she also wanted to incorporate an owner or handler in the logo, to convey the sense of training and handling. The challenge was how to do that without the imagery becoming too busy or detailed. I worked with her and developed a first draft of a dog with a harness and owner’s hand holding a leash. Jess explained further that they actually do not use harnesses in their training, and that she wanted the logo to include a visual of of a dog and owner with a slack leash, which is the end goal of their training. She was able to show me an image that conveyed a similar idea. I used that image as the inspiration for my design, and was even able to reincorporate a few details from the earlier draft, and the end result is this logo. Jess was very easy to work with and very good at communicating what changes she would like to see, as well as what she was trying to communicate with her branding and visual identity.
