My children have attended Harrisonburg City Public Schools since kindergarten. Harrisonburg Education Foundation funds opportunities and programs that help promote and celebrate excellence in the Harrisonburg City Public Schools. So, I was delighted to have an opportunity to help the Harrisonburg Education Foundation with designing their 2017 Gala materials. The 2017 Gala had a March Madness theme, so the bulk of the design was centered around the idea of basketball and sports. Since the event was to be held at James Madison University, I took a cue from their style guide and used the pantone values for the JMU purple and gold, as well as the Arvo font, which is widely used across the University.
I designed their email flyer, print flyer, print invitations, RSVP cards, raffle tickets, and a 12 page program to be handed out at the Gala.
The process took several weeks or review and revisions, to get all the pieces ready to go out, but I am very proud of the results, and especially that the work was for a cause near and dear to my own heart as a Harrisonburg City Public Schools parent.
